The stadium has hosted several international cricket matches, including the third Test match between India and England in February 2021, which marked its inaugural game. The stadium has also been officially designated as the home ground of the Gujarat Cricket Association. The venue hosted a total of eight IPL matches in 2021, including the final.

The stadium was designed by the same company, Populous, which was also responsible for designing the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The new stadium features a unique LED lighting system built into the roof truss that illuminates the playing area with low power consumption.

Overall, Narendra Modi Stadium is a state-of-the-art cricket stadium that has been established as one of the premier cricketing venues in the world, with a capacity to host both domestic and international matches.

MATCH PREVIEW

The first match between England (ENG) and New Zealand (NZ) is going to be an exciting contest. Both teams have a strong line-up and have been performing consistently in recent times.

England, as the home team, will have the advantage of playing in familiar conditions. They are known for their aggressive style of play and have a talented batting line-up, including the likes of David Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Their bowling department is also well-equipped with bowlers like David Willey, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid.

On the other hand, New Zealand is a well-balanced team with a blend of experienced and young players. They have proven themselves to be a force to reckon with, having reached the finals of the ICC World Test Championship earlier this year. The likes of Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult add depth and experience to their batting and bowling line-up.

Both teams boast of strong bowling attacks, so the battle between the batsmen and bowlers will be crucial in deciding the outcome of the match.

Considering the form and capabilities of both teams, this match has the potential to be a close contest. It will be interesting to see how the teams strategize and adapt to the conditions. Fans can expect an exciting and competitive match between England and New Zealand.
