PITCH REPORT

Sydney Showground stadium  is the second cricket stadium located in Sydney, Australia. It is owned and operated by the Australian’s cricket association operated by Cricket Australia. It serves as the home ground for the Sydney Thunder team. This ground is totally new for International matches and did not play any international match on this ground. But this pitch is used for many big bash matches.

Sydney Showground Stadium Cricket Ground is also known as Showground the one of the new grounds in the domestic cricket world which is operated by the Australia Cricket Board. It has a seating capacity of 25000 and has hosted 33 Big Bash Matches.

Overall, Sydney Showground Cricket Ground holds a significant place in Men’s Big Bash cricket history and continues to be a prominent venue for domestic and international cricket matches in Sydney.

This pitch has served 34 matches of  Men’s Big Bash League and in 34 matches 17 times the first batting team won the match and 16 times second batting won the match. So toss is not an important role for this match..

Sydney Showground’s pitch is balanced for both departments. The last Big Bash season witnessed the batting first side crossing 151 runs by Sydney Thunder and but match was cancelled due to rain. However, the ground does not have huge straight boundaries ranging 70 metres long. The square boundaries’ size reads 62-63 metres. This suggests that hitting sixes on this ground requires power, making it risky to go for the aerial route.

In the initial overs, the bowling side needs to maintain a tight line and length, aiming to secure early breakthroughs to restrict the opponent to a low score. It is clear that the pacers will get a good amount of help with the new ball, and they will trouble the batters. The outfield here is quite fast, and the boundaries are not that big as well. In 34 matches played on this ground 17 matches batting 1st won and 16 matches won by 2nd batting.
