INTRODUCTION

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India, contested during the months of March and May every year. It was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 and is considered one of the most prestigious and popular cricket leagues in the world.

The IPL features franchise teams representing different cities and regions of India. Each team is composed of a mix of domestic and international cricketers, and they compete in a round-robin group stage followed by knockout playoffs to determine the champion. The league has seen significant growth in terms of viewership, sponsorship, and revenue since its inception.

Apart from its cricketing significance, the IPL has also become a cultural phenomenon, attracting celebrities, business tycoons, and fans from all walks of life. It has revolutionised the sport by introducing innovative concepts like player auctions, strategic timeouts, and cheerleaders, which have added to its entertainment value.

However, the IPL has also faced controversies over the years, including allegations of match-fixing, corruption, and conflicts of interest. Despite these challenges, the league continues to thrive and remains a major event in the global cricket calendar, showcasing top talent and providing a platform for emerging players to shine.

Indian Premier League 2024 has started from 22nd March.8th match of Indian Premier League will be played between one of the popular teams of IPL, and one time trophy winner Sunrisers Hyderabad & One of the most successful and 5 times IPL Trophy Winner Mumbai Indians.

PITCH REPORT

The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, commonly known as the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, is a cricket stadium located in Uppal, Hyderabad, India. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. The stadium is owned by the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) and has a seating capacity of around 55,000 spectators.

The stadium has hosted numerous international and domestic cricket matches since its inauguration in 2003. It is the home ground for the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The stadium is well-equipped with modern facilities, including floodlights for day-night matches, practice facilities, and media amenities.

The pitch at the Rajiv GandhiStadium is known for being bowlers-friendly, particularly as a match progresses. In the initial overs, the pitch tends to be good for batting, offering decent pace and bounce for stroke-making. However, as the game progresses, the surface tends to slow down, and the spinners come into play more prominently. The spinners, both finger spinners and wrist spinners, often find assistance from the surface due to its dryness and rough patches.

Batsmen need to be watchful against spinners and be prepared to rotate the strike rather than going for aggressive shots. Building partnerships and pacing the innings become crucial on this pitch. Fast bowlers also have a role to play, especially in the initial overs when the ball may seam and swing a bit. However, their effectiveness usually decreases as the match progresses.

Overall, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium pitch is known to produce competitive matches, providing opportunities for both batsmen and bowlers. It often rewards skillful spin bowling and strategic batting, making it a fascinating venue for cricket enthusiasts
